A business insurance package is several coverages stitched together — protecting your customers, your building, your people, your vehicles, and your work itself. Here's what each piece does and when it applies.

A

General liability

Covers injuries to customers and visitors, and damage you cause to other people's property while doing business.

Example: A customer slips on your wet entry floor and breaks a wrist. General liability pays the medical bills and settlement.

B

Commercial property

Protects your building, equipment, tools, and inventory from fire, theft, storms, and other covered events.

Example: An electrical fire damages your shop and its stock. Commercial property pays to rebuild and restock.

C

Workers' compensation

Covers medical bills and lost wages when employees are hurt on the job — and it's required in Virginia for most employers.

Example: An employee strains their back lifting a heavy box. Workers' comp pays treatment and time off.

D

Commercial auto

Covers vehicles used for business — trucks, vans, and fleets — with liability plus optional collision and comprehensive.

Example: Your delivery van rear-ends a car on a run. Commercial auto pays the other driver and fixes the van.

E

Professional liability & cyber

Professional liability (E&O) covers claims of mistakes in your work or advice; cyber coverage handles data breaches and hacking costs.

Example: A client claims your advice cost them money — E&O pays the defense. A hacker steals customer records — cyber covers the response.
